Why do orders paid for by check take so long?

It takes a week or two for a "bouncing" check to get back to us.  The extra week is to allow for any mail delays (from bank to bank, from Post Office to us).

We've had only one bounced check -- and the bouncer paid it back immediately -- but it was a decidedly unpleasant experience.  We allowed 10 working days, then mailed off the customer's order.  The next business day, we received notice from our bank that the check had bounced.  So, we allow that little extra time, now.

We will be keeping a list of Bounced Check Writers Here.    Upon receipt of a bounced check, we notify the sender by e-mail, phone and/or regular mail.    If we receive no immediate response (24 hours for e-mail response), we will post a copy of the check, along with the name, address, phone number and e-mail address of the "Bouncer."

We request payment of the regular check plus the amount the bank charged us.  Most often bounced checks are not intentional -- but they still cost money.  If we incur any other expenses while trying to retrieve our money, we will also bill for that.
